In Asterix and the Banquet Asterix and Obelix go about collecting the delicacies while being chased and confronted by Romans wherever they go. Dogmatix, the little dog adopted by Obelix makes his first appearance in this book. On page 13 he is first seen under the window of a butcher shop. Because their bag of delicacies smells so good, he follows Asterix and Obelix on their tour without ever being noticed until the very end of the story. A wonderful way to introduce Dogmatix. |

To prove that they are free to come and go as they please, Asterix makes a bet with the Roman Inspector General that he will tour Gaul and bring back delicacies from each region, and invite him to the victory banquet upon his return to prove that he is telling the truth.
