In Asterix the Gaul, the Romans send a spy in to the village to discover their source of strength.

Once they discover it is a magic potion, they kidnap the village druid, Getafix, with the intention of obtaining the formula.

Asterix infiltrates the Roman camp and with the help of Getafix prepare a magic potion, but, the Romans are in for a big surprise as Getafix has many magic potions up his sleeve.

Truly one of the funniest books in the series.

In Asterix and the Golden Sickle, Getafix, the village druid, has broken his golden sickle which he desperately needs to gather mistletoe used to create the magic potion.

Asterix offers to journey to Lutetia (Paris) to buy one from the sicklesmith who happens to be a cousin of Obelix.

On the way Asterix and Obelix will encounter bandits and traitors, have difficulty finding lodging in Lundinium (Le Mans ) due to the Great-Ox-Cart race event, search for the missing sicklesmith and discover the secret behind the sickle traffickers.

In Asterix and the Goths, Getafix once again gets kidnapped, but this time it is by a band of Goths while on his way home from the annual druid conference.

The Goths want the formula to his magic potion. Asterix and Obelix journey to Germania disguised as Romans to save Getafix, teach the Goths a few lessons in manners, and manage to set off a series of tribal wars in the process.

Witty and hilarious, you will love this one.

Volume 4

In Asterix the Gladiator, the Roman Prefect of Gaul, Odious Asperagus, wants to give Caesar one of the invincible Gauls as a present. His men kidnap the village bard Cacofonix whose singing voice (unfortunately for Caesar and the Romans) happens to be dreaded and avoided by all members of his village.

Once the Gauls notice why their village is so peaceful and quiet, Asterix and Obelix go off to Rome by way of a Phoenician ship to find Cacofonix. Not impressed with the bard's performance, Caesar decides to have Cacofonix go to the Circus to be fed to the lions. Asterix and Obelix dress up, enlist, and train as gladiators in order to rescue Cacofonix.

Get ready for some fun at the Circus-Maximus.

In Asterix and the Banquet, the Romans build a palisade around the village to to contain the Gauls. To prove that they are free to come and go as they please, Asterix makes a bet with the Roman Inspector General that he will tour Gaul and bring back delicacies from each region, and invite him to the victory banquet upon his return to prove that he is telling the truth.

Asterix and Obelix go about collecting the delicacies while being chased and confronted by Romans wherever they go. Dogmatix, the little dog adopted by Obelix makes his first appearance in this book. On page 13 he is first seen under the window of a butcher shop. Because their bag of delicacies smells so good, he follows Asterix and Obelix on their tour without ever being noticed until the very end of the story.

A wonderful way to introduce Dogmatix.

In Asterix and Cleopatra, Cleopatra bets Caesar that she can build a magnificent palace for him within 30 days.

The best architect in Alexandria is hired to build the palace, but realizes he needs more manpower. He asks for help from his friend Getafix who sends Asterix and Obelix to Egypt where they encounter unsavory characters and Romans along the way.

Will the queen Cleopatra win her bet?

In Asterix and the Big Fight, an old Gaulish tradition takes place. When a chief challenges another chief to a big fight, the winner gets the loser's village.

The Romans get a Gaulish chief to challenge Vitalstatistix, chief of the indomitable Gauls. Normally the fight would be easy to win with a drink from the magic potion, but Obelix hits Getafix with a menhir which results in Getafix losing his memory. Getafix tries various combination to create the magic potion which produce unexpected and hilarious effects.

Will Vitalstatistix win the fight or lose his village?

In Asterix in Britain, our heroes travel to Britain to come to the aid of a small British village who resist the Romans.

Rain and fog are only a few of the obstacles our indomitable Gauls have to face, there is also a matter of boiled boar and cabbage with mint sauce, warm beer, and when fighting the Romans, stopping at 5 to drink hot water.

At the end of the story, Asterix presents the Brits with a few unknown leaves. Can you guess what kind of leaves they turn out to be?

In Asterix and the Normans, the Normans invade our small Gaulish village on a mission to learn fear. Unfortunately, our Gauls are not afraid of anything except of the sky falling on their heads.

Justforkix, the chief's visiting teenage nephew from Lutetia (Paris) is a typical teenager. full of himself until he gets uncontrollably frightened when the Normans invade. On his way back to Lutetia, The Normans kidnap him to teach them fear. The situation is hopeless for Justforkix until Asterix and Obelix come to the rescue.

Can Asterix and Obelix teach them fear?

In Asterix the Legionary, Obelix finds himself in love with the beautiful Panacea, but she is in love with Tragicomix who was forced to join the Roman army. She is miserable without him so Obelix offers to bring him home.

Asterix and Obelix find Tragicomix in North Africa where they join the army and break all the rules much to the distress of the two Centurions, Nefarious Purpus and Dubius Status.
